Profile

The EHP’s self-conception is to become a supraregional (in the medium term, international) center for Europe-related (advanced) education, research and political decision-making. The EHP bases its work on academic observations (= empirical research).

Content-wise, the EHP covers the following fields in a European dimension:

  • languages/language/communication
  • cultural studies (especially in provincial and rural regions)
  • political issues (especially in provincial and rural regions)

With the exception of the basic language courses, the EHP strives for a continuous interconnection of these areas.

The EHP aspires the following profile features:

  • Educational offers in the abovementioned fields are connected with innovative teaching methods (keyphrase "educating and entertaining")
  • With the exception of the basic language courses activities in the three fields mentioned above, activities do not encompass only 2 or 3 countries, but are truly European in the sense that representatives of all geo-cultural areas will be included: the center (Germany), the west (e.g. France), the east (e.g. Hungary), the north (e.g. Finland), the south (e.g. Italy). All activities beyond the basic language courses therefore include at least five countries. This raises chances to elaborate truly European answers to cultural and sociopolitical questions and teach truly European competence. The EHP thus offers citizens opportunities for active participation in building Europe.
  • The EHP offers those view a platform that are based on scientific observations, but occur in the mass media only marginally. It also pursues a new form of Enlightenment with respect to the use of media.
  • Expert-researchers and citizen-researchers will present internationally elaborated policy recommendations for European politics with respect to cultural and sociopolitical issues. The EHP will thus be a place of institutionalized active European citizenship. This respects the process nature of Europe.
  • Activities bring together experts and laypersons.
  • The EHP is a center of Eurolinguistic research.
  • Europe is supposed to represent the "Regions of Europe". Everyone should feel connected to his region, but also to Europe. The EHP therefore supports the active formation of a European identity by reflecting many regions in the internationally developed contributions.

The EHP wants to promote peace and contribute to the further development of a Europe in which every human being can live in an atmosphere of social tolerance, mutual understanding and equal chances.
